Owls Compete at WSC Championships

Citrus College completed Western State Conference action last weekend at the WSC Championships at Ventura College. The Owl women finished sixth out of ten schools with 324 team points, while the men took ninth with 122 team points. 

The women were led by Kori Cunningham who finished with three top-10 finishes. Her best finish was 5th place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.94, in the 50-yard freestyle she placed 7th with a time of 25.96, and in the 100-yard freestyle, she finished 7th with a time of 56.55.

Hannah Wu had a stellar day for the Owls placing 4th in the 100-yard fly with a time of 1:07.16, another 4th place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke, and a 7th place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:19.79.

Xiana Cabral would also add three top-10 finishes for the Owls, placing 6th in the 100-yard fly with a time of 1:12.52, placing 9th in the individual medley with a time of 2:32.97, and 10th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:12.08.

Sierra Beltran had two top-10 finishes, placing 7th in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 20:29.58 and placing 9th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:11.62.

The women's relay teams also had some impressive finishes with the 200-yard freestyle relay with Sierra Beltran, Hannah Wu, Genesis Moradel, and Kori Cunningham placing 5th with a time of 1:52.07.

The 400-yard medley relay team of Genesis Moradel, Janness Banh, Hannah Wu, and Kori Cunningham placed 6th with a time of 4:53.57.

The 200-yard medley relay with Genesis Moradel, Hannah Wu, Janness Bahn, and Kori Cunningham placed 6th with a time of 2:11.23.

The 400-yard freestyle relay with Sierra Beltran, Hannah Wu, Xiana Cabral, and Kori Cunningham placed 6th with a time of 4:02.86.

On the men's side, Logan Haberle scored 11 points for the Owls placing 11th in the 200-yard fly with a time of 2:35.22 and 12th in the 100-Yard Fly with a time of 1:05.02. Brian De Lama scored 9 points for the Owls with his 11th place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke and his 14th place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The men's 400 freestyle relay with John Wilson, Gavin Tanner, Brian De Lama, and Colton Vale placed 8th with a time of 3:45.03. The 200-medley relay with Milton Gutierrez, Brian De Lama, Logan Haberle, and Colton Vale placed 8th with a time of 1:54.44, and the 200 free relay of John Wilson, Gavin Tanner, Brian De Lama, and Colton Vale placed 7th with a time of 1:40.86.
