Mission Viejo, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College Volleyball team made an epic comeback in their season opener on Wednesday evening. The Owls rallied from two sets down, winning the final three games as they defeated host Saddleback College 18-25, 19-25, 25-20, 26-24, and 15-12.

The Owls' season got off to a rocky start as the Gauchos ran out to early leads in each of the first two sets winning the first by seven and the second by eight. Citrus finally woke up in the third taking the set by five. The Owls almost lost their momentum in the fourth though as Saddleback led 22-21 late. Citrus would rally though scoring five of the next seven points in a 26-24 win.

In the fifth and deciding set, the game would go back and forth with the game being knotted up at 12 points apiece. The Owls would take advantage of a pair of Gaucho errors and score the final three points to come away with the win.

In the win, Citrus got a number of contributions from different places. Freshman Kayla Eddings led the way posting 16 kills and a .565 kill percentage. Sophomore Kim Collins pounded home 13 kills, while freshman setter Amanda Stone handed out 46 assists. Sophomore Breanna Stone dug up 20 balls, and freshman Kyla White recorded three solo blocks and three aces.

With the win, Citrus improves to 1-0 on the year. The Owls will be back in action on Friday as they take part in the Pasadena Tournament. Citrus opens play on Friday at 3:00 PM against the tournament's host Pasadena City College.
