Volleyball Sweeps Victor Valley Tournament

Victorville, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College Volleyball team went up the 15 freeway and came back home with a pair of straight sweep victories on Saturday afternoon. The Owls took care of the host Victor Valley College and also their conference mates Antelope Valley College as they moved back to .500 on the season.

In the opening match, Citrus took on the Marauders of Antelope Valley. Antelope Valley made it a match, but Citrus was able to pull out each game winning 25-18, 25-20, and 25-20. Freshman Kayla Eddings had a team high 14 kills, while sophomore Kim Collins added 12. Sophomore Breanna Stone dug up 16 balls, while freshman Amanda Stone recorded 34 assists.

In the second match, the Owls took on the Victor Valley. Citrus made quick work of the Rams winning 25-11, 25-10, and 25-16. Sophomore Kassidy Greenberg led the way in that match with nine kills, while Collins contributed nine. Amanda Stone had 36 assists, while Breanna Stone and fellow sophomore Yesenia Ibrahim had 11 and 10 digs each.

With the two wins, the Owls move to 3-3 on the year. Citrus will take the next week off and resume play a week from Wednesday when they host Fullerton College. The match is set for a 6:00 PM start time on Wednesday September 19th.
