Volleyball's Streak Ends Against #1 Pierce

Woodland Hills, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College Volleyball team's, ranked #19 in the State, streak of five straight set sweeps came to an end last night as did their current winning streak. The Owls ran into the #1 team in the State, in undefeated and reigning State Champs LA Pierce College, in a 25-18, 25-18, and 25-18 loss.

Freshman Amanda Stone would lead the way in the loss with 24 assists. Her sister, sophomore Breanna Stone led the Owls with 16 digs. Freshman Makoto Toyama added 10 digs, while sophomore Chelsea Martinez was the Owls' best player at the net with a team high 9 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Sophomore Alexis Lunney added seven kills.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 6-4 on the season and 0-1 in Western State Conference South Division play. The Owls will try and bounce back on Wednesday when they hit the road for another tough conference road test as they take on College of the Canyons. The match is set for a 7:00 PM start in Santa Clarita.
