Santa Clarita, CA (Volleyball) -- The Citrus College Volleyball team suffered their first back to back loss since early September and their first loss to an unranked team as they fell in four sets at College of the Canyons on Wednesday night.

Canyons jumped on the Owls early running out to a 12-7 lead in the first set after a number of Citrus errors. Citrus would rally though, taking a 19-17 lead late, but the Cougars scored eight straight to win the first set 25-17.

In the second set the two teams jostled back and forth for the pole position, with the Owls finally taking than 11-9 lead early. Citrus extended it to 20-15, before taking the match by scoring five of the final six points in the set and winning 25-16.

It all fell apart after that though as Canyons ran out to a 9-5 lead in the third set. The Owls would try and come back using a six to run to cut the Cougar lead to four at 18-14, but the Owls struggled down the stretch winning 25-18. In the fourth set it was much of the same story as the Owls lost 25-19.

In the loss, Citrus was led by freshman Kayla Eddings and sophomore Kassidy Greenberg who had a team high 13 and 10 kills respectively. Freshman Amanda Stone handed out 34 assists. Sophomore Breanna Stone had a team high 19 digs, while freshman Makoto Toyama had 14 digs.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 6-5 on the year and more importantly 0-2 in Western State Conference South Division play. The Owls' week won't get any easier as they host their first conference home match on Friday evening. Citrus will take on visiting and State ranked #3 Bakersfield College at 7:00 PM.
