Glendora, CA -- For much of the first set, the 17th ranked Owls hung with the #1 team in the State LA Pierce College. Citrus even had a chance to close out the Brahmas and hand them just their second set loss of the season, but Pierce was too much for Citrus to handle as they ended up losing the first set and the next two.

The first set was hard fought on both sides as the score was tied a total of 12 times, and the lead changed hands another five times. Citrus' last lead would come late when freshman Kayla Eddings gave the Owls a 22-21 advantage on a kill. Moments later, the Owls would be sitting on set point 24-22 after a back row kill from sophomore Yesenia Ibrahim.

Pierce would answer with a kill, and then an attack error by Citrus tied the match up at 24. Still, the Owls got another set point, when the Brahmas themselves committed an error to make it 25-24 Citrus. Pierce rallied though scoring three straight points to take the set 27-25.

In the second set, the Brahmas kept all the momentum. The closest Citrus would get would be when they tied the score up at 10-10 after a kill from sophomore Kassidy Greenberg. Pierce answered with three straight though, and the Owls never got the lead back below two in a 25-21 loss.

In the final set, things would be tight for the start of things as score was tied seven times in the first 20 points of the game. The Owls would last tie it up after an ace from sophomore Alexis Lunney made it 10-10. Pierce responded by going on a 15-6 run however, and the Brahmas cruised to a 25-16 win in the third set.

Lunney would finish the night with a team high eight kills, while Eddings and sophomore Kimberly Collins each had seven. Freshman setter Amanda Stone had 28 assists and also a team high 10 digs in the loss.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 10-7 on the year and 4-3 . The loss drops Citrus a game back of College of the Canyons and Bakersfield College in the WSC South standings. The Owls can make that up though on Friday when they host Canyons at 7:00 PM.
