El Cajon, CA -- The Citrus College Volleyball team hit the road on Saturday to take on two of the State's Top 10 teams in the Grossmont Quad. The Owls were dealt a tough hand and sent back home with a pair of losses losing to State #3 Grossmont in straight sets and falling in five sets to State #8 San Diego Mesa.

The day opened up with that meeting against the Griffins. Grossmont took it to the Owls from the get go taking them down 25-20, 25-15, and 25-21. Sophomore Amanda Stone handed out 15 assists, while sophomore Ana Bui came up with eight kills. Sophomore Kiyhanna Dade dug up a team high 11 balls, while freshman Kaylee Johnson had four aces.

In the second match of the day, the Owls overcome a slow start in the first set (14-25) to take two straight from the Olympians 25-21 and 25-18. Citrus slipped back up in the fourth set though falling 19-25, before losing the fifth and deciding set 10-15. Freshman Danielle Hundley had a team high 17 kills, while sophomore Kayla Eddings came up with 10 kills and 14 digs. Dade added another 18 digs on the day, while Stone had 37 assists.

With the pair of losses Citrus falls to 2-2 on the year. The Owls will try to get back into the swing of things this Tuesday when they host LA Pierce College. The match is set for a 6:00 PM start.
