Santa Monica, CA -- After suffering back to back losses in their last two matches, the Citrus College Volleyball team finally snapped their losing streak on Friday night when they hit the road and took out Santa Monica College. It wasn't easy though for the Owls as they did so in four sets.

Things would start off swimmingly enough for Citrus, as they took the first set 25-16. The Corsairs rallied in the second set though, turning the tables on the Owls with a 25-20 victory. Citrus would settle back down though, and put the game away over the next two sets with a score of 25-19 in each frame.

Sophomore Kayla Eddings led Citrus with a team high 14 kills and a team high 21 digs. Freshman Danielle Hundley added 12 kills, while sophomore Ana Bui chipped in with 11. Sophomore setter Amanda Stone had 32 assists and 15 digs, while freshman middle blocker Cassandra Freitag notched 12 digs and a pair of solo blocks. Freshmen Maria Aguilar and Kaylee Johnson rounded out the superlatives with four aces a piece.

With the win, Citrus moves a game back over .500 at 8-7 overall and pulls even in WSC South play at 2-2. The Owls will finally be back home on Wednesday, but will get a tall order when it hosts State # 11 Bakersfield College. That match is set for a 6:00 PM start.
