Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Volleyball team needed everything the had on Friday night when they hosted Glendale College. The Owls had to scrap and fight their way past the Vaqueros in five sets, exacting some revenge on Glendale who handed the Owls a similar loss at their place earlier in the year.

The Owls found trouble early when Glendale jumped all over Citrus in the opening set going up 18-8. The Owls would make a late charge, pulling to within one at 23-24 after a kill by sophomore Kayla Eddings and an ace from freshman Alexandria Donnelly. Glendale closed it out though leaving Citrus down 1-0 early.

Citrus seemed to snap out of it in the second set. The Owls pulled away midway through, going up  20-12 after two more aces from Donnelly. Unlike the first set when Citrus made a late charge the Owls closed it out 25-16.

The Owls kept it rolling in the third with it playing out much in the same way as the second. Leading 21-15, Citrus got three kills in the final four points from Eddings to put the set away at 25-15.

Despite all the momentum seeming to be I'm Citrus' court, things couldn't have gone worse for the Owls in the fourth set. Glendale took an early 10-5 lead. The Owls would actually rally back and even lead 15-14. The Vaqueros went on a big run thought and went on to force a fifth set with a 25-20 win.

In the fifth set, the two teams traded points to start. Tied at 2-2, the Owls got an ace from sophomore libero Kiyhanna Dade, and then three straight attack errors by the Vaqueros, the last one a result of a block by Eddings and sophomore Ana Bui.

After a Vaquero timeout, Glendale pulled to within one at 5-6, but Citrus rallied again. Bui notched a kill, Bui and Eddings blocked another Glendale attack, and Donnelly picked up another ace to put the Owls up 9-5. It was never much close than that as the Owls punctuate the fifth set victory with a kill from freshman Danielle Hundley that made it 15-8.

In the win, Citrus was led by Bui who posted a match high 20 kills. Eddings added 15, 11 of which came in sets three, four and five. Sophomore setter Amanda Stone added a match high 46 assists and a team high 24 digs, while Donnelly finished with six aces.

With the win, Citrus improves to 12-8 overall and 6-3 in WSC South play. The Owls will be back at home for their final home contest of 2013 next Wednesday when they host Santa Monica College. The match is set for a 6:00 PM start time.
