Glendora, CA -- After struggling through most of the end of September and in the early going in October, the Citrus College Volleyball team got just what the doctor ordered on Friday night when they hosted Glendale College. The Owls got their first sweep of the year, defeating the Vaqueros, 25-16, 25-19, and 25-10.

Citrus started off strong, taking the first set by nine points, and posting a .250 kill percentage in the process. The Owls dipped a bit in the second, with just 14 kills on 53 attempts with 10 errors, but still went on to win by six. In the third, Citrus put the game away for good, needing just seven kills to give the Owls their first WSC South win.

In the win, Citrus was led by sophomores Kaylee Johnson and Kyla White who both had a match high 10 kills. Sophomore Cassandra Freitag added seven and a team best .267 kill percentage (minimum 10 attempts), to go with a solo and assist block. Freshman Allison Castanon rounded out the superlatives with a team high 11 digs.

With the win, Citrus improves to 4-9 overall and 1-1 in WSC South play. The Owls will get a big test on Wednesday when it hosts State #24 Santa Monica College at 6:00 PM.
