Volleyball Makes it Two Straight With Sweep of West LA

Culver City, CA -- The Citrus College Volleyball team won their second straight match on Friday afternoon when they swept their night's host West Los Angeles College. The Owls got contributions from all over, winning 25-18, 25-16, and 25-5.

The Owls got better as the night went on, on Friday. In the first set, Citrus posted a .094 kill percentage as they earned 11 kills against eight errors. The Owls improved in the second set with a .194 kill percentage with 11 more kills against four errors, before committing zero errors in the third set, and posting a .400 kill percentage.

Freshman Erin Murphy had her best outing as an Owl with a team high nine kills on 24 attempts with just four errors. Sophomore Cassandra Freitag had five kills and a pair of blocks, while sophomore Kaylee Johnson had six kills and a team high seven digs. Freshman Samantha Jape rounded out the positives with five total blocks on the night.

With the win, Citrus improves to 6-11 overall and 3-3 in WSC South play. The Owls will start the second half of WSC South play on Friday when they travel to College of the Canyons for an afternoon contest at 3:00 PM.
