Glendora, CA -- Citrus College sophomore Alyssa Robles saved her best performance of her two-year Owl career for her last match. The 5'6 defensive specialist put together a complete match, with four kills, three aces, and four digs as the Owls swept visiting West Los Angeles College in straight sets.

Things got off to a slow start on Wednesday night for Citrus. The Owls and Wildcats were neck and neck through the first 13 points, until a string of West LA errors gave Citrus a 15-6 cushion midway through. That's all Citrus would need as they went on to win 25-14.

In the second set, Citrus scored the first five points, getting blocks on the first two points from freshman Samantha Jape and assists from freshmen Erin Murphy and LeAna D'Aquila. West LA didn't go away quietly though and took the lead for themselves midway through. The Wildcats would hang onto the lead and led by as much as two at 19-17. That's when the Owls got it going again, using kills by D'Aquila and Robles to kick start a 6-0 run that resulted in a four point swing. Sophomore Cassandra Freitag closed out the set with a kill to make it 25-23.

By the time the third set rolled around momentum was firmly in Citrus' corner. The Owls scored the first four points of the set, and never really looked back. West LA would cut their deficit to four at 13-17 midway through, but the Owls answered with a 6-0 run that featured two of Robles' three aces as they went on to win 25-16.

With the win, Citrus' 2014 season closes with a 9-14 overall record and 6-6 mark in WSC South play.
