Owls Struggles Continue in SD Mesa Tourney Opener

San Diego, CA -- The early woes of the Citrus College Volleyball team continued on Friday evening as they opened up the 30th Annual San Diego Mesa College Invitational against one of the strongest programs in the State in Los Angeles Pierce College. The Owls went down easy, falling to the Brahmas in straight sets, 14, 14, and 13.

The Owls didn't have a player with more than five kills on the night, as sophomore LeAna D'Aquila led the way with five kills on a respectable nine attempts with just one error. Sophomore setter Kristen Fox was held under double-digit assists for the first time in her two year career, but led the way none the less with nine assists. Freshman Lauren Valenciana added four kills and a solo and assist block, while sophomore Jacqueline Medina had a team high eight digs.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 1-4 on the season. The Owls will try and rebound tomorrow morning when they open up the second day of action with a 10:00 AM match-up against Moorpark College.
