Pasadena, CA – The early season issues for the Citrus College Volleyball team continued on Wednesday evening at the triangular hosted by Pasadena City College. The Owls opened up the night by getting swept by the host Lancers, before falling in five sets to Mt. San Jacinto College, their second loss to the Eagles this year.

Pasadena was in complete control throughout the opening match, beating Citrus 25-13, 25-20, and 25-12. Even the most reliable of Citrus players struggled in the match, as the Owls hit .056 over the course of three sets. Sophomore Paige Madkin was one of the lone bright spots with 11 kills on 30 attempts. Freshman Briana Voght added seven kills.

In the second match, things couldn't have started off better with the Owls outlasting the Eagles 28-26 and hitting .371. Citrus kept their momentum going into the second set where they cruised to a 25-19 victory. MSJC flipped roles on the Owls over the next two sets though winning 25-18 and 25-16 to force a fifth and deciding set. Citrus never regained their footing, and fell 15-12.

Madkin was once again the highlight for Citrus with 21 total kills a match high for either team. Voght added 12, while freshman libero Marissa Underwood had 23 digs for Citrus.

With the two losses, Citrus drops to 0-10 on the year. The Owls will resume CCCAA action on Friday September 23rd in the Victor Valley College Triangular taking on Mt. San Jacinto College for the third time this year, along with the day's host VVC. Their first match is set for a 2:00 PM start.
