Victorville, CA - In Citrus' first 10 games of the 2016 season, the Owls suffered losses in five sets in three matches. Citrus' fifth set nightmares continued over the weekend when they lost two five-set matches, one to Mt. San Jacinto College and the other to new conference rival Victor Valley College.

For the third time this year, Citrus took on Mt. San Jacinto College, this time in the opening match for the Owls in the Victor Valley Triangular. The Owls started things off the way they always do, winning the first two sets 25-23 and 25-12 to take a seemingly commanding 2-0 lead. Things went downhill for the Owls right after that though as they lost 25-23, 25-12, and 15-12 over the next three sets. Sophomore Paige Madkin did her best to keep the Owls in things, with 16 kills and 16 digs. Sophomore Zhari Johnson had 23 digs, while freshman Leah Price added 11 kills and a team high 24 digs in the loss.

In the second match, the Owls once again jumped out to a lead, this time 2-1 after wining the first set 25-21, losing the second set 21-25, and wining the third 30-28. The Owls fell off after that though, dropping the fourth set 18-25 and the fifth and deciding set 14-16 to fall to 0-12 overall. Freshman middle blocker Briana Voght would pace the Owls with a match high 18 kills. Madkin and Price each added 15 kills and 22 digs.

The Owls will try and get off the snide on Wednesday evening when they travel to San Bernardino Valley College for a 5:00 PM showdown with the Wolverines.
