Woodland Hills, CA - The Citrus College Volleyball team put together a solid effort on Friday afternoon when they traveled to Woodland Hills to take on the #2 ranked team in the State of California in Los Angeles Pierce College. The Owls hit the 19 and 18 points mark in the first two sets, before being put away in the third 25-12.

The Owls would do their best to keep it close through the first 20 points, but a run by the Brahmas midway through would extend their lead to a health nine points 20-11. Still, Citrus showed fight, rattling off a 3-0 run and then a 4-0 run late that featured a pair of kills each by sophomore Paige Madkin and sophomore Briana Voght that made it 23-19. Pierce would right the ship and score the next two points, but the Owls proved they could make them work.

In the second set, Citrus continued on the late momentum they started, leading as late as 11-9 after a kill by Madkin. Pierce would go on to score five of the next six points, but the Owls managed to make things interesting late with a block by Madkin and Voght before ultimately losing by seven points. The last set, saw Pierce pull away, but Voght, who was the team leader in kills with seven, managed to more kills.

Along with Voght's seven kills, Madkin and fellow sophomore Lauren Valenciana would each have five. Freshman liberal Marissa Underwood would lead the team with eight digs, while freshman setter Patrisha Sangalang handed out 20 assists and added seven digs.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 3-7 overall and 1-2 in WSC East play. The Owls will resume conference play on Wednesday when they host Santa Monica College at 6:00 PM.
