Volleyball Has Six Named All-Conference
Glendora, CA - Despite a slow start to their 2016 campaign the Citrus College Volleyball team, the Owls rallied late and finished in a respectable third place in the Western State Conference East Division. As a result, the Owls had six individuals named to the All-Western State Conference East Division team.
Earning 1st team All-WSC East honors was sophomore oustide hitter Paige Madkin and freshman opposite hitter Briana Voght. Madkin appeared in and started every match for the Owls in 2016. She led the team in kills (273), kills per set (2.94), was second in digs (228), and was third in kill percentage (.218) and digs per set (2.45). Voght meanwhile had an impressive freshman campaign, especially in conference play where she led the team in kills and kill percentage. On the season, she led the team in kill percentage (.337) and blocks (28), and was third in kills (184).
Making it on to the 2nd team were freshman outside hitter Leah Price and freshman libero Marissa Underwood. Price finished second on the team with 261 on the season, and fourth in digs (211). Underwood was the team leader in digs at 275 total and digs per set (3.24). Underwood was also the team leader in aces at 33.
Rounding out the Citrus honors were sophomore defensive specialist Zhari Johnson and freshman outside hitter Amanda Belzl. Johnson finished her collegiate career with 336 digs and 31 aces. 220 of those digs and 22 of those aces came this past year. Belzl meanwhile finished the year with 96 kills, 32 aces, 101 digs, and 20 blocks.
