Citrus Closes out Conference with Corsairs

Citrus College opened strong but couldn't hold off No. 24-ranked Santa Monica City College Thursday night, falling in four sets (18-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-17).

The Owls close the Western State Conference-South portion of their season with a 4-8 record and move to 8-17 overall. The Corsairs improve to 18-6 on the year and 9-3 in conference with the win.

Sabrina Evangelista led the Owls with 15 kills, while Caren Stone chipped in eight kills and Gabriella Aguilar and Kalin Greene added six and five kills, respectively. Vanessa Marquez dished out 35 assists and led Citrus with 18 digs. Mychaela Ortiz finished with 14 digs, Evangelista added 13 digs and Alexis Aguayo posted 12 digs.

Citrus closes out the season at the Crossover Tournament next weekend, hosted by Cuesta College.
