Citrus College got a new season underway Friday night, taking on Mt. San Antonio College on the road.
The Fighting Owls battled but came up short in a 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-20) defeat to start the season 0-1, while the Mounties open the year at 1-0.
Faith Evaro led the Owls with nine kills on the night, while Vanessa Marquez dished out 19 assists and had eight digs. Sabrina Evangelista led the defensive efforts with 13 digs, while Mychaela Ortiz and Desiree Reyes each posted five digs.
The Owls continue on the road as they head to Orange Coast College on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 5 p.m.
