Citrus College closed out its home conference slate on a high note, celebrating a 3-1 (25-16, 25-11, 23-25, 27-25) victory on Sophomore Night over the College of the Canyons Friday night.

The Owls improve to 7-18 overall and 4-6 in Western State Conference-South action with their fourth-straight victory at home, while the Cougars slip to 10-12 on the year and 6-5 in conference.

Faith Evaro led the Owls with 14 kills and posted 17 digs, while Desiree Reyes had eight kills. Mychaela Ortiz finished with 20 digs and Vanessa Marquez had 15 assists, while Raegen Johnson had 13 assists.

Citrus came out swinging and held Canyons to negative hitting percentages in the first two sets to jump out to a 2-0 lead in the match. The Cougars battled back and won the third to stay alive, but the Owls dug deep to secure the match win with a 27-25 victory in the fourth.

The Owls close out WSC action on the road with two matches left in conference, heading to Antelope Valley College on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. match.
