Owls Compete on Sophomore Night

The Citrus College Women's Volleyball team celebrated their sophomores last night in their final home game of the season against Bakersfield College. The Owls ended up losing the match in straight sets (25-16, 25-21, 29-27) but competed against the Renegades, nearly forcing a fourth set.

Citrus College moves to 5-16 overall and 4-7 in conference games while Bakersfield College improves to 16-9 overall and 9-3 in conference games.

Although the Owls were not able to get the win on Sophomore Night, they did not make it easy for Bakersfield College. After losing the first set 25-16, the Owls kept the second and third sets competitive with back-and-forth rallies and exciting plays to keep sets alive.

The Citrus College Sophomores shined last night, led by McKenna Cooper with a game-high 15 kills while recording eight digs, two assists and two service aces. Sophomore middle blocker, Danielle Erlandson recorded nine kills with one solo block and one block assist. Tara Biscan had seven kills, one assist, one solo block and one block assist on the night. Sophomore defensive specialist Kiera Vermillion recorded three digs and one assist. Raegen Johnson had a game-high 29 assists while adding three kills, two service aces, two digs and one block assist. Lauren Wesley had three digs and one block assist while Isabel Luna led the Owls with 12 digs and added one ace and one assist in the game.

Citrus College will play its final game of the season on the road against Glendale College tomorrow, Friday, November 15 at 6 p.m.
