Owls Get One and Lose One at Day Two of Chaffey Tourney

Rancho Cucamonga, CA (Women's Water Polo) -- The Citrus College Women's Water Polo team got one and lost one on Saturday in the final day of the Chaffey College Tournament. Citrus opened up the day by beating Fresno City College 11-7, before falling to SoCal power Cerritos College 22-10 in the final match of the weekend.

As previously stated things got off to a strong start with the win against Fresno. Freshman Mandy Darafeev pumped in four goals, while sophomore Kelsey Droegemueller drew three ejections. Freshman Lora Marquez-Solgado rounded out the superlatives with seven steals.

In the second game, the Owls hung tough but couldn't dig up an upset. Darafeev and Droegemueller each had a pair of goals, while Marquez-Solgado handed out two assists and swiped three steals. Freshman Yvette Torres had four blocks and fellow frosh and goalie Kierra Wright stopped five shots in the loss.

With the win and the loss, Citrus moves to 3-5 on the year. The Owls will take the next week off before coming back a week from Wednesday with their home and conference opener against Santa Monica on the 26th. The game is scheduled for a 4:15 PM start time.
