Owls Win and Lose On Final Day of Tourney

Glendora, CA (Women's Water Polo) -- The Citrus College Women's Water Polo team wrapped up their 2012 Citrus College Tournament with a win and a loss on Saturday afternoon. Citrus opened up with a 13-10 win over Santa Ana, before falling in a close contest 9-7 to El Camino.

Against the Dons, Citrus ran out to an early lead, going up 4-2 after one and 8-5 at the half. Citrus took a 11-6 lead after the third quarter, and cruised to the three point win over Santa Ana. Freshman Mandy Darafeev scored eight goals for Citrus, while fellow frosh Jenna Cook added three.

In the second contest, the Warriors and Owls battled, but Citrus couldn't close out a perfect weekend. Sophomore Meghan Turner led the way in the loss with four goals, while Darafeev added two, and Cook the final goal.

With the win and the loss, Citrus improves to 11-12 on the year. The Owls will be back in the pool on Wednesday when they take on newcomer LA Pierce in conference play. The match is set for a 3:30 PM start.
