Glendora, CA (Women's Water Polo) -- The Citrus College Women's Water Polo team turned the ball over 22 times, too much for them to overcome when they hosted LA Pierce College in a WSC meeting on Wednesday night. Despite their best efforts, the turnovers doomed the Owls in a 15-12 loss.

Citrus stayed toe to toe with Pierce to open the contest, as the Brahmas led just 3-2 after the first quarter. In the second quarter though, Pierce began to pull away going up 8-5 at the half. In the third, the Brahmas effectively put the game away going up 12-7. Citrus would outscore Pierce 5-3 in the final frame, but that was too late in a three point loss for the Owls.

Freshman Mandy Darafeev scored a team high five goals for the Owls and recorded a team high four steals. Sophomore Meghan Turner scored three goals, had three assists, and drew four kickouts. Freshman Jenna Cook scored three goals as well, while freshman Kendra New added the 12th goal of the game.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 11-13 overall and 1-3 in conference play. Citrus will be back in the water this weekend when it takes part in the Battle at the Beach Tournament hosted by Long Beach City College. The schedule will be released later this week.
