San Luis Obispo, CA -- With three starters sidelined due to injury, the Citrus College Women's Water Polo team suffered a big loss on Wednesday afternoon, their worst of the conference schedule. The undermanned Owls fell 20-6.

Cuesta jumped all over the Owls from the gun outscoring Citrus 8-1 in the first quarter alone. Things didn't get much better in the second quarter, as the Cougars took a commanding 13-2 lead into the break. Citrus finally slowed down Cuesta a bit in the third as each team scored three times, but the Cougars put the game away for good in the fourth with a 4-1 advantage for the Owls.

Freshman Candelaria Baca was a bright spot for Citrus scoring four goals. Freshman Kendra New and Jenna Cook each added a pair of assists, while Cook also had a team high four steals.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 15-14 on the year and 1-4 in WSC play. The Owls' regular season is now done, but Citrus still has the Western State Conference Championship tournament left to go. That will take place next weekend November 2nd and 3rd. The Owls should be the #5 seed headed into the tournament.
