Valley Glen, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Water Polo team got off to a slow start on Wednesday evening against LA Valley College, a start that ultimately doomed them. The Owls fell into a 6-0 hole at the half and never recovered on their way to a 14-4 loss.

Things started off poorly for Citrus when they gave up four first quarter goals, and failed to score. That trend continued into the second quarter, when the Owls fell behind 6-0 as mentioned earlier. In the second half, the Owls finally managed to net some goals, scoring twice in the third and two more in the fourth. Regrettably, Valley doubled their tally in each of the third and fourth quarters as they fell by 10.

The scoring was spread out evenly in the loss, as sophomores Kendra New, Lora Marquez-Salgado, Mackenzie and freshman Christina Tereszczuk all scored. Freshman Mary Spencer had a pair of assists, while Marquez-Salgado led the team with three steals.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 10-12 overall and 1-3 in WSC play. The Owls will take part in the 2013 truWest Battle at the Beach this coming weekend hosted by Long Beach City College.
