Owls Get Five on All-Conference

Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Water Polo team had five athletes listed on the 2013 All-Western State Conference list. The Owls had two 1st teamers, two 2nd teamers, and an Honorable Mention selection.

Sophomore Kendra New and freshman goalie Rose Takeuchi were the Owls' two 1st team selections. New was second on the team with 41 goals in 2013, and third with 25 assists. New also had 35 steals on the year and drew 16 kick-outs. New was a 2nd team All-WSC selection as a freshman in 2012. Takeuchi meanwhile staked her claim as one of the top young goalies in the State with 297 blocks the third most in program history, and a 59.4% save percentage. Takeuchi also recorded 33 steals and 16 assists.

On the second team were sophomore's Candelaria Baca and Lora Marquez-Salgado. Both were All-WSC Honorable Mention honorees as freshman last year. Baca scored a team high 61 goals and handed out a team best 28 assists. Baca also drew a team leading 39 kick-outs and 50 steals, the second best mark on the team. Marquez-Salgado meanwhile scored 37 goals, handed out 27 assists, and led the team with 81 steals the 8th most in program history.

Rounding out the All-Conference selections was freshman Lauren Quintero who was named an Honorable Mention selection. Quintero had a strong debut for Citrus, recording 13 goals, 16 assists, 27 steals
