Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Aquatics department successfully hosted the Unites States Women's Water Polo National team this past week. The U.S. National Team was in town to play a friendly with California State University, Northridge.

Fresh off their 2013 Holiday Cup Championship, and a pair of wins over the Canadian International team to qualify for the 2014 FINA World Cup, the U.S. Women's Team began the process of getting back in the water at the Citrus College Aquatics Center. The U.S. Women are fresh off a 2013 season that saw them finish 3rd in the FINA World League Super Final and take 5th at the FINA World Championships.

In addition to last week's event, it was recently announced that the U.S. Women's Team will also be hosting the Japanese National team later this Spring also at Citrus College, as the two countries continue their tune-up for the FINA World Cup.

"Hosting this scrimmage was a great opportunity for the current members of the Citrus College women's water polo team to watch some very high-level water polo being played in their home pool," said Citrus College Head Women's Water Polo and Swim Coach Andrew Silva. " It was also very exciting to have the scrimmage open to the public so members of the local water polo community could enjoy watching some of our country's best athletes play here at Citrus."
