Ventura, CA — The Citrus College Women's Water Polo team went on the road for the first time in Western State Conference play on Wednesday afternoon. The Owls travelled up the coast to take on Ventura College, and had their offense bottled up in an 8-2 loss to the host Pirates.

Citrus fell behind early on Wednesday, but kept pace over the first eight minutes, trailing 2-1 after the first quarter. In the second, Ventura began to put some distance between themselves and the Owls, going into the hal up 5-1. Citrus kept even with the Pirates in the third as each team scored a gaol, but ultimately Ventura pulled away in the fourth, outscoring Citrus 2-0.

In the loss, freshman Danielle DeHerrera scored both of Citrus' goals. Sophomore Kimberly Torres notched four steals, while sophomore Rose Takeuchi stopped eight shots.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in WSC play. The Owls will resume tournament play this weekend when they co-host the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament.
