Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Water Polo program put together their first shutout of an opponent on Wednesday afternoon in at least eight seasons. The Owls jumped out to an early lead and never looked by, while shutting down visiting Santa Monica College in a 17-0 victory.

The Owls wasted little time in getting down to business scoring four goals in the first four minutes before running out to a 8-0 lead after the first quarter. Citrus took their foot off the gas in the second, but kept the defensive pressure up as they went into halftime up 11-0. In the third, Citrus again put forth an offensive spurt with four more goals, before wrapping things up in the fourth with two more scores.

In the win, Citrus was led by sophomore Kimberly Torres' game high four scores. Freshman Elaine Hodge and sophomore Lauren Quintero each had three. Freshman Brittni Di Carlo had arguably her best contest of the year, scoring a goal, handing out three assists, and grabbing a pair of steals. In the cage sophomore Rose Takeuchi and freshman Delaney Moller split time equally, with each stopping three shots.

With the win Citrus improves to 5-10 overall and 2-1 in WSC play. The Owls will be off until next Wednesday when they travel to LA Valley College for a 3:30 PM conference showdown.
