Santa Barbara, CA -- The Citrus College Women's Water Polo team travelled to Santa Barbara and San Marcos High School to take on Santa Barbara City College in their regular season finale last Wednesday. The Owls were stopped shy of their upset bid by their play in the middle of the game, in what was an 11-5 loss for Citrus.

Citrus hung tough with the Vaqueros to start and finish the game. After the first quarter, the Owls trailed by just a single goal 3-2. Santa Barbara began to stretch out their lead in the second quarter when they shutout the Owls and took a 5-2 lead into halftime. That lead got stretched out even further in the third quarter when Citrus was outscored 4-2 en route the six point loss.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 11-15 overall and 2-4 in WSC play. The Owls will close out the regular season this coming weekend when they host the 2014 Western State Conference Championships. The Owls will be the #5 seed and will take on the #4 seed LA Valley College in the first round on Thursday at 11:30 AM.
