Four Women’s Water Polo Players Earn All-Conference Awards

Glendora, CA -- Four Citrus College Women's Water Polo athletes were awarded post-season conference honors recently. Sophomore goalie Rose Takeuchi paced the pack with a 1st team nod, while sophomore Lauren Quintero and freshman Danielle DeHerrera were both named 2nd team awardees. Sophomore Kimberly Torres rounded out the honors with an Honorable Mention nod.

Takeuchi wrapped up an outstanding two-year career for the Owls by starting all 27 contest for Citrus. Takeuchi stopped 279 shots, handed out 17 assists, and recorded 12 steals. Takeuchi stopped 10.3 blocks per game and allowed just 5.4 goals per game, both the top marks in the entirety of the Western State Conference.

Quintero served as one of the Owls' top threats until her season ended early due to injury. Quintero scored 25 goals, handed out 18 assists, and recorded 32 steals in 21 games played. DeHerrera had a promising start to her college career, starting all 27 contests for the Owls. DeHerrera scored 24 goals, recorded 14 assists, and tied for the team lead with 45 steals.

Torres was one of four Owls to start all 27 contests, along with Takeuchi, DeHerrera, and freshman Abby Sorensen. Torres scored 28 goals, led the team with 23 assists, and recorded 32 total steals on the year.
