Woodland Hills, CA -- It took around eight minutes, but once the Citrus College Women's Water Polo team got going in the conference tilt with Los Angeles Pierce College on Wednesday afternoon they were hard to stop. The Owls looked strong in the middle outscoring the Brahmas 13-2 in the second and third quarters as they improved to 1-1 in conference with a 16-5 win.

The two teams would be neck and neck in the opening quarter with each scoring twice. The Owls first big move came in the second when Citrus outscored Pierce 5-0. The Owls kept it rolling in the third with an 8-2 period, before closing out the fourth scoring once and giving up one Brahma goal.

In the win, sophomore Abbey Sorensen paced the Owl effort with a team high three goals. Freshman Jessica Carmody added two scores and a team high five steals, to go along with a team high three assists. Sophomores Elaine Hodge, Mary Marie McCreary, and Christina Tereszczuk rounded out the superlatives with two goals each.

With the win, Citrus improves to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in WSC play. The Owls will be back in action this weekend when they play co-host to the 19th Annual Mt. San Antonio College Classic Tournament. The Owls open up against Grossmont College here at home at 10:20 AM.
