Santa Monica, CA — The Citrus College Women's Water Polo team hit the road on Wednesday afternoon for a WSC contest with Santa Monica College. The Owls went into Santa Monica and handled the Corsairs picking up a 16-5 victory.

The Owls wasted little time in getting into the thick of things with a 5-1 first quarter on the day. They followed that up with a 5-0 second to head into the break up 10-1. In the third, Citrus again scored five more goals holding the Corsairs to another single strike. In the fourth, Santa Monica outscored Citrus 3-1, but it wasn't close to being enough in the 11 point win by Citrus.

In the win, sophomore Danielle DeHerrera led all scores with five goals, while freshman Jessica Carmody added four. DeHerrera and sophomore Abbey Sorensen each had a team high three assists, while DeHerrera also recorded a team high six steals. Between the pipes freshman Jenna Elder stopped six of the 11 shots she faced.

With the win, Citrus improves to 13-4 overall and 4-1 in WSC play. The Owls will be back at home this weekend for their annual tournament, starting with a 9:00 AM showdown with East Los Angeles College.
