Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Women's Water Polo team closed out their first weekend at "home" on Saturday afternoon when they helped co-host the 20th Annual Mt. SAC Classic. The Owls finished with a 4-0 weekend after beating Palomar and El Camino Colleges in the final day.

The day started with a tilt against the Comets of Palomar. Citrus got off to a tough start, failing to find the back of the net in the first frame, and trailing 1-0 after the first quarter. The Owls quickly got their act together in the second quarter, scoring four unanswered to take a 4-1 lead. The Comets would rally though and score twice more before the quarter was up to head into the break down one 4-3.

The Owls would come out of the half and put the game away for good. Citrus outscored Palomar 5-1 over the final 16 minutes of action of five points win. Freshman Hunter Olivier would score four goals and record three steals in helping lead the Owls to victory. Sophomore goalie Delaney Moller would stop eight of the 12 shots she faced.

In the final game of the weekend, the Owls had little trouble getting out of the gates quick. The game would be tied at 1-1 1:26 into the game, but it never got any close as Citrus scored five straight and seven of the next nine to head into halftime leading 8-3. Freshman Angela Smith would score three goals for the Owls, the same as freshman Chloe Barrocas. Freshman Lindsay Powell handed out four assists, while Olivier had two goals, two assists, and a steal.

With the two wins, Citrus improves to 9-4 overall. The Owls will be back home on Wednesday when they host Los Angeles Pierce College in their conference home opener. The game is set for a 3:30 PM start against the Brahmas.
