Santa Maria, CA - After putting forth one of it's worst offensive efforts of the year on Tuesday afternoon against Cuesta College, the Owls made their longest conference road trip of the season on Wednesday afternoon to take on Allan Hancock College. Freshman Lindsay Powell came up in a big way for the Owls, as she powered Citrus to a 16-8 win after scoring seven goals, handing out three assists, drawing three exclusions, and recording a steal.

The Owls fell into an early 1-0 hole on the afternoon, after Allan Hancock came out and scored on their first possession, and managed to keep Citrus off the scoreboard over their first few tries. Sophomore Gabriella Galbraith would jump start a 3-0 run by the Owls though with a score with 5:58 to go in the first. The Bulldogs weren't going to shy away and pulled to within a goal in late in the quarter to head into the second down one.

In the second, Citrus put some distance between themselves and Allan Hancock with goals by freshman Megan Card and the aforementioned Powell. The Bulldogs would rally with two of the final three goals before the half however and would head into the break trailing by one.

Citrus finally began to pull away in the third quarter. Powell scored three straight to open up the flood gates, and freshman Hunter Olivier would tack on a fourth via a 6-on-5 score with 1:09 left in the quarter to make it 10-5. Citrus would keep their foot on the gas, scoring six more goals in the fourth, three from Powell, en route to the eight point victory.

Outside of Powell, Olivier added three scores, three assists, and three steals. Galbraith scored two, had two assists, and recorded three more steals. In the cage, sophomore goalie Delaney Moller stopped seven of the 15 shots that came her way, and also notched four steals.

With the win, Citrus improves to 12-8 overall and 2-3 in WSC play. The Owls will be back at home over the weekend when they host their annual tournament. Citrus opens things up on Friday at 7:50 AM against El Camino College and takes on East Los Angeles College before the end of the day at 6:20 PM.
