Citrus Dominates LA Pierce

Citrus College came out and took care of business in the first round of the Western State Conference Tournament with an 18-3 victory over LA Pierce.

The Owls improve to 16-10 with the win.

Teghan Miller led the Owls with five goals, while Gabriella Terry added four goals. Sey Currie, Annabell Caldera, Amelia Wolfe and Sophia Leon each scored a pair of goals, while Alyssa Woody also got in on the scoring action.

The Owls came out swinging and scored all 18 goals before LA Pierce could get on the board.

Citrus scored nine times in the first quarter, four times in the second and five times in the third to take a commanding lead.

A quartet of goalies played in the cage for Citrus with Mia Pfutzenrueter, Samantha Massang, and Stephanie Azizeh each making three saves. Sabrina Rodriguez also had a save between the posts.

With the win, the Owls advance to the semifinals to take on second-seeded Ventura College on Friday at 1:30 p.m. for a shot at the title game.
