The Citrus College Women's Water Polo Team hosted the Citrus College Tournament this past weekend on Friday, October 18th and Saturday, October 19th.
The Owls went 3-0 beating American River College, Saddleback College, and LA Valley College.
Citrus College opened tournament play on Friday morning against American River College, earning a 22-7 win. The Owls were eld by Kori Cuningham who scored eight goals, had eight steals, and added four assists. Ryan Price and Gabi Terry each scored three goals while Trinity Hulet, Bianca Casas and Maryeon Reedy each scored two goals in the win. Goalie Natalie Abril recorded three saves while Katelyn Wright recorded four saves.
The Owls returned Friday afternoon for a matchup with Saddleback College, a game that came down to the last seconds. With the game tied at 9-9 Ryan Price scored a goal (her sixth of the game), assisted by Sienna Leon with five seconds remaining in the game to seal the win. Goalie Natalie Abril recorded six saves through four quarters. Citrus College had lost its previous two matchups with Saddleback College back in September at the OCC and RCC tournaments.
Citrus took their winning momentum into Saturday as they closed out their own tournament in a dominant 15-5 conference win over LA Valley College. Ryan Price led the way with six goals followed by Kori Cunningham with three goals while Marieona Reedy and Gabi Terry each scored two goals. Goalie Natalie Abril recorded nine saves in the win.
The Owls improved their record to 10-11 on the season and 3-1 in conference after hosting the Citrus Tournament.
Citrus College will host Cuesta College this Wednesday, October 24th at 4 p.m.
