Meza and Ewart Pace Owls at Ventura Invite

Ventura, CA (Cross Country) -- Freshman Marilyn Meza and Wesley Ewart paced the Citrus College Men's and Women's Cross Country teams on Friday afternoon as their season opening meet the Ventura College Invitational. Meza finished 31st out of 93 runners while Ewart was 64th out of 85.

On the women's side Meza helped the Owls finish 7th out of 9 competing teams with a time of 23:06.27. Sophomore Lovella Perea finished four spots behind her in 35th place with a time of 23:20.09, while sophomore Heather Hinostro rounded up the Citrus top three with a time of 24:06.88 good for 46th place.

On the men's side, Citrus took 8th out of the 8 teams racing. Ewart finished the course in 27:17.36, while teammate Gregory Castro finished 69th with a time of 28.22.77. Michael Tejada was the third place finisher for the young Owls taking 73rd place and finishing the four mile run in a time of 28:54.67.

The Owls will be back out competing this Friday when they take part in the Rio Hondo Invitational. Race time for the women is set for 10:00 AM, while the gun is scheduled to sound at 10:45 AM for the men. Both races will take part at Legg Lake in Whittier.
