Santa Barbara, CA -- Four Citrus College Women's Cross Country runners will be moving on to the Southern California Championships a week from Saturday. The four individuals qualified thanks to their performance at yesterday's Western State Conference Championships at Ledbetter Beach in Santa Barbara.

As a team the women finished in 9th place and just 10 seconds out of a team qualification for the Southern California Championships. Citrus posted a total team time of 2:07.15 and posted a team average 5K time of 25:27.

Sophomore Lovella Perea crossed the finish line first, finishing in 45th overall place with a time of 24:47. Freshman Julia Galvez finished a few spots behind her in 51st place with a time of 25:05. Sophomore Heather Hinostro followed that up with a 56th place finish and time of 25:28, while freshman Marilyn Meza took 57th with a time of 25:28. All four ladies are in for the SoCal Championships.

Unfortunately, the men didn't fare as well as the women, coming in 10th place out of the 10 competing teams. Freshman Wesley Ewart led the pack of Owls, finishing 71st with a time of 27:42. Freshman Michael Tejada finished a few spots behind Ewart in 73rd place with a time of 27:53.

The Southern California Championships will be held Saturday November 3rd at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa. The women's race is set to begin at 1:00 PM.
