Women's XC Finishes 9th at SoCals

San Diego, CA - On a near perfect day for running, the Citrus College Women's Cross Country team continued it's trailblazing season by finishing in ninth place at the 2015 Southern California Championships. It's the best finish by a women's team in program history, and the team qualified for the 2015 CCCAA State Championships for the second straight season.

Sophomore Janet Meza-Avila continued her strong season by placing 27th overall with a time of 19:58.99. Sophomore Lezly Morales was behind her in 54th place with a time of 20:38.71, while sophomore Antonella Curinga was in 65th place with a time of 20:52.39. Sophomore Andrea Flores would be the fourth Owl through the chute in 84th place and a solid time of 21:17.31, while sophomore Nataly Meza-Avila just out-stepped sophomore Jacqueline Alcala (98th Place | 21:37.72) for the fifth and final scoring time as Meza-Avila finished in 97th place with a time of 21:35.46. 

On the men's side, sophomore Daniel Hernandez-Cabrera continued to be the highlights for the Owls. Hernandez-Cabrera finished in 63rd place overall with a time of 22:14.47, and will be the sole qualifier for the State Championships on the men's side for Citrus. The rest of the men, who were a late addition to the SoCal Championships, got scoring runs from sophomore Emmanuel Mercado (119th Place | 23:00.16), sophomore Juan Cruz (133rd Place | 23:15.62), sophomore Andres Aparicio (148th Place | 23:36.18), and sophomore Efren Alcala Jr. (149th Place | 23:39.42) for a 21st place finish out of 27 competing schools. 

The Lady Owls and Hernandez-Cabrera will be back out on the trail in two Saturdays when the take part in the aforementioned 2015 CCCAA State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno, CA on Saturday November 21st.
