Bio

Alan Waddington became the head coach of the Citrus College cross country program in 2018. He is accomplished as a teacher, performer, and runner, and has found commonalities in these fields for training, racing, and life approaches that he applies to coaching. An avid runner, Coach Waddington can be seen working out with the Owls in the Foothills and all around the Citrus area.

Prior to taking over the reins at Citrus, Waddington was an assistant coach with the Owls for over a decade. He has studied and tested techniques from Arthur Lydiard, Marty Liquori, George Whetmore, and others. This led to Waddington hitting the podium on numerous occasions in personal competition and his acceptance as an Elite runner in the Rock N Roll running series.

As a performer, Waddington received a platinum record for his work with Gwen Stefani (https://youtu.be/WggD_xdh5W4) and has performed with Willie Nelson (https://youtu.be/m-mo73qvweY), Jon Bon Jovi, Korean Pop Stars (https://youtu.be/qDJVDGURAgs), and many other celebrities.

As an educator, Waddington has worked in Performing Arts at Citrus College, APU, and as a guest clinician in Japan and Korea. His former students have toured the world and recorded with Lady Gaga, Halsey, Harry Styles, Neil Young, Ben Folds, Justin Beiber, and The Foo Fighters (to name a few), and work in Hollywood, Las Vegas, New York, Nashville and throughout the world.
