Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Volleyball team opened up Western State Conference South Division play at home on Friday evening and cruised. The Owls defeated visiting West Los Angeles College in straight sets 25-14, 25-11, 25-21.

The Owls started off the game a little slow, leading West LA 6-4 in the first set, but rattled off eight of the next nine points to take a commanding 14-7 lead after a kill from freshman Danielle Hundley. West LA would cut their deficit to six, but would never get any closer than that.

In the second set, the Owls continued with their momentum. Citrus scored the first three points and never look back. West LA would keep to within five of the Owls, but Citrus scored 10 of the final 11 points of the set to take game two by 14.

West LA proved to be pesky in the third set. The Wildcats even led for the first time of the night since they scored the very first points of the match, when they went up 5-3. Citrus came back with five unanswered, and went up 8-5 after a kill from freshman Taylor Teasley. The Owls never trailed from that point forward, though West LA didn't make it easy.

In the win, Citrus was led by Hundley who notched a match high 15 kills. Freshman setter Alexandria Donnelly added match highs of 20 assists and six aces. Freshman Cassandra Freitag pitched in with five assist blocks, and sophomore Kayla Eddings came up with a match high nine digs.
