Whiteside, Fink, and Beltran Are Final Three to Sign for Citrus

Glendora, CA – Citrus College sophomores Marcus Whiteside, Dillon Fink, and Christian Beltran are the final three Citrus College Football players from the 2015 team to accept scholarship offers. All three signed in the last month and are attending their new four-year institutions to participate in the upcoming 2016 season.

Velasquez and Walker Sign

Glendora, CA - Citrus College Football players Sal Velasquez and Dominique Walker are the latest Owls to sign scholarship offers for Head Coach Ron Ponciano’s squad. Velasquez has signed on with Eastern Michigan University while Walker, has signed an offer and is already attending Saginaw Valley State University.

Sophomore Brad Rowland is the fourth Owl to sign a scholarship offer.

Glendora, CA - Citrus College sophomore offensive lineman Brad Rowland has signed a scholarship offer with the University of Buffalo. Rowland is the fourth Owl to sign a scholarship offer this year, and continues Citrus’ strong tradition of moving on offensive lineman to the Division I level.

Glendora, CA - Citrus College sophomore defensive lineman Brandon Hayashi became the third Owl to sign a scholarship offer this past week when he signed with Montana State University. Hayashi was a two-year starter for the Owls on the defensive line, and was a 2nd team All-SCFA Central League honoree in 2015.

Glendora, CA -- Citrus College sophomore defensive end Justin Hornsby and freshman defensive back Daijohn Isbell became the first Owl football players from the 2015 squad to sign scholarship offers late last week. Hornsby inked with NCAA DI FCS Indiana State University, while Isbell signed with NCAA DII powerhouse Valdosta State University.

Owls Close Out Season With Spirited Effort Against Riverside

Glendora, CA - The 2015 Citrus College Football season came to a close on Saturday afternoon, when they Owls played host to State #4 and SoCal #2 Riverside City College. Citrus put forth a spirited effort, but couldn’t keep up the Tigers in the end in a 45-24 loss.

Vikings Run Away From Owls Late

Long Beach, CA - For 3 1/2 quarters the citrus College Football team gave highly ranked Long Beach City College all it could handle. In the end though the Vikings vast talent helped Long Beach run away from the Owls late in a 28-49 loss for the Owls.

Same Old Song and Dance

Rancho Cucamonga, CA -- The Citrus College Football team hit the road for a quick trip east on the 210 Freeway Saturday afternoon to take on Chaffey College. It was the same old song and dance for a banged up Owls team who led early, but was outscored 21-7 in the fourth quarter in what ended up being a 38-20 loss to the host Panthers.

Offense Stymied by Mt. SAC

Glendora, CA -- After coming off their first win of the 2015 season, the Citrus College Football program felt like they may have turned a corner on a rough season to date. Unfortunately for Citrus, the Owls’ offense was stymied on Saturday afternoon when they hosted Mt. San Antonio College, averaging just two yards a play and being held to 10 points in a 41-10 loss.

Owls Snap Losing Skid With Win at Bakersfield

Glendora, CA -- After a rough 0-5 start that saw Citrus blow four late leads in five of those losses, the Citrus College football team was finally on the opposite end of those suffering. The Owls scored a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter and overcame a 14-10 deficit to post a 24-14 victory over the host Renegades.

Woes Continue for Owls at Harbor

Wilmington, CA -- The Citrus College Football program’s woes in 2015 continued over the weekend when they travelled to Los Angeles Harbor College for an SCFA National Division Central League meeting with the Seahawks. The Owls gave up a 95 yard kickoff return for a touchdown on the opening play, and things went downhill from there in a 54-34 setback.

Tough All Around

September 27, 2015

Glendora, CA -- It was a tough day all around for the Citrus College Football team when they played host to El Camino College during their National Division Central Conference opener on Saturday afternoon. The Owls mustered just 73 yards of total offense and picked up just 11 first downs during the game. Despite all of that the Owls were in Saturday’s game with a chance to win later, but once again came up just shy in a 23-20 loss to the Warriors.

Fink Earns Second SCFA Player of the Week Nod

Glendora, CA -- Citrus College sophomore linebacker Dillon Fink (Glendora HS) earned his second Southern California Football Association National Division Central League Defensive Player of the Week nod on Wednesday. Fink was named the Week #3 Defensive Player of the Week this week, earning the same honors two weeks ago for his performance during Week #1.

Three Out of Four

Glendora, CA -- For three out of the four quarters in Saturday night’s Southern California Football Association contest between Citrus College and State #9 Golden West College, the Owls outplayed the Rustlers. Unfortunately for Citrus, the only quarter they didn’t outplay their opponent was the fourth, where they Rustlers put up 22 points and rallied from a deep hole, in Citrus’ 29-22 loss.

Shooting Themselves in the Foot

September 13, 2015

Santa Clarita, CA -- The Citrus College Football team did almost everything right when they took on College of the Canyons on Saturday night. With the Cougars coming off an upset of defending State Champs Mt. San Antonio College last weekend, the Owls knew their task would be tall. Citrus would compile 12 more first downs than the Cougars, 131 more yards of total offense, and completed over 50% of their third down attempts, while holding Canyons to a 20% conversion rate. The Owls shot themselves in the foot though with five total turnovers, four through the air and the other putting the ball on the ground in a 33-20 loss.

Glendora, CA -- Citrus College Sophomore linebacker Dillon Fink was named the Southern California Football Association Central Conference Defensive Player of the Week late Tuesday night. Fink earned the honors thanks to his performance in Saturday evening’s loss to Palomar College, and is the first Owl to earn the honors this season.
