Owls Season Ends at SoCal Championships

Oceanside, CA - The Citrus College Men’s Golf team had their 2017 season come to an end on Monday. The Owls became the first Citrus team in recent memory to qualify for the CCCAA SoCal Championships, but unfortunately that’s where their road ended as Citrus finished in 9th place and came up just shy of having an individual qualify for the State Championships.

Owls Are Back in SoCal Regionals for Second Straight Year After Fourth Place Finish at WSC Finals

Santa Maria, CA - The Citrus College Men’s Golf team is back in the Southern California Regionals for the second straight season after their fourth place finish at Monday’s Western State Conference Finals. It’s the first time that the Owls have qualified as a team for the SoCal Regionals in back-to-back seasons in recent memory.

Palmdale, CA - The Citrus College Men’s Golf team stayed in fourth place in what was a competitive match on Monday afternoon at Antelope Valley Country Club. Just 14 strokes separated first from fourth place on the afternoon, with Canyons taking first and the Owls finishing close behind in fourth.

Freshman Joshua Strong returned to action on Monday and fired a 77 for the Owls at the WSC Victor Valley Event.
Owls Move Back Into Fourth at WSC Victor Valley

Victorville, CA - After two straight weeks of fifth place finishes, the Citrus College Men’s Golf team moved back into fourth place at the WSC Event hosted by Victory Valley College. The Owls, led by sophomore James Bragger’s one under par 71, posted a score of 389 holding off Glendale College by six strokes.

Glendale, CA - For the second week in a row, the Citrus College Men’s Golf team came in fifth place at a Western State Conference Event. This time it was a fifth place finish at Oakmont Country Club for the WSC Glendale Event.

Freshman Gabriel Sosa fired an 80 at the WSC Event hosted by College of the Canyons.
Owls are Disappointing Fifth at WSC Canyons

Valencia, CA - A week after falling to fourth place after back-to-back third place finishes, the Citrus College Men’s Golf team fell to a disappointing fifth place at the WSC Event hosted by College of the Canyons. In what was a close race between the 3rd, 4th, and 5th place teams, the Owls come up with the short stick posting a team score of 402.

Sophomore Justin Orona had one of his best rounds of the year with an 82 at the WSC Santa Barbara Event.

Santa Barbara, CA - The Citrus College Men’s Golf team dropped back into fourth place two weeks after posting back-to-back third place finishes the last contests. Sophomore James Bragger was the lone Owl to break into the individual Top 15, and no Owl shot better than 80 as they posted a team score of 417.

Oceanside, CA - The Citrus College Men’s Golf team participated in the Southern California Preview on Monday afternoon at El Camino Country Club, site of the 2017 Southern California Championships. The Owls hung with the SoCals best finishing in 7th place overall, but the Owls also fared well in the conference portion of the event as the match served as the WSC Neutral site, where Citrus finished in 3rd place.

San Dimas, CA – The Citrus College Men’s Golf team, paced by a second place finish by sophomore James Bragger, finished in third place on Monday afternoon at their home hosted tournament. Bragger carded a one under par 71, finishing one stroke behind Ventura’s Brandon Resnick who posted a 70, helping the Owls finish one stroke ahead of fourth place Santa Barbara and kept Citrus just seven strokes behind second place College of the Canyons.

Oxnard, CA – The Citrus College Men’s Golf team finished in 4th place at the WSC Event hosted by Ventura College. The Owls shot a combined 399 on the afternoon, which was just two strokes behind third place Ventura College, and 10 strokes behind second place Santa Barbara City College in a tight race.

Bakersfield, CA - The Citrus College Men’s Golf team finally opened up Western State Conference play on Monday afternoon when they headed North to Bakersfield College to take on the rest of the conference at the WSC Bakersfield Event at Stockdale Country Club. Sophomore James Bragger lit up the course, firing a one over par 73, finishing 3rd individually, but as a team Citrus had to settle for a 5th place finish with just seven strokes separating the second to fifth place schools.

Freshman Gabriel Sosa was part of the low-man pairing for the Owls at the best-ball Pneumonia Open, and then was also the low-man for Citrus at the MSJC Classic two days later.

Victorville & San Jacinto, CA - The Citrus College Men’s Golf program participated in a pair of tournaments this past week, playing in the annual Pneumonia Open, a best-ball tournament, hosted by Victor Valley College, and the annual Mt. San Jacinto College Eagle Golf Classic, hosted by Mt. San Jacinto. The finished in 11th and 12th places respectively.

Golf Falls to 10th at OEC Classic

Chino Hills, CA - The Citrus College Men’s Golf team fell to 10th place on Wednesday afternoon at the 2017 OEC Classic hosted by Cypress College. Against the entirety of the always strong Orange Empire Conference, along with some of the best of the rest SoCal has to offer, the Owls kept pace, but couldn’t crack the upper echelon at Los Serranos County Club - North Course.

Freshman Joshua Strong shot a pair of 75's at the season opening Point Conception Open hosted by Santa Barbara City College over Sunday and Monday. That put him in a tie for fifth place against some of the top teams across the State.

Lompoc, CA - The Citrus College Men's Golf team got a taste of what the 2017 season has in store for them to start the week when they participated in the annual Point Conception Open at La Purisima Golf Course. The Owls had a strong showing, especially for freshman Joshua Strong who posted a top five individual finish against some of the stiffest competition across the State.
