Noonan Takes Head Job at Sierra

Glendora, CA -- Citrus College Offensive Coordinator Ben Noonan has accepted the Head Football Coaching Position at Sierra College. Noonan has served as the Offensive Coordinator for the Owls the past four seasons, helping turn around a program, along with current Head Coach Ron Ponciano, that went 7-4 in 2012.

Sophomore's David Metcalf, Rodney Mathews, and Travis Doll have all signed early scholarship offers, and will be enrolling at their next school in the Spring.

Glendora, CA -- Citrus College sophomores Rodney Mathews, David Metcalf, and Travis Doll have signed scholarship offers and will be midyear transfers. Mathews will be attending and playing at Fresno State University, while Metcalf will be at Prairie View A & M University, and Doll at Ottawa University.

Three Owls Named All-State

Glendora, CA -- Three Citrus College sophomore football players were named California Community College Football Coaches Association Region IV 1st team All-State this past week. Isaiah Kepley (WR) was named to the team on the offensive side of the ball, while Rodney Mathews (DB) and Chris Laros (P) were named on the defensive side.

Longtime Owl Football Coach, John Strycula, Passes

Glendora, CA -- Former Citrus College Football Coach John Strycula passed away over the weekend. Strycula coached the Owls from 1967-1985 a span of 19 years. Strycula was inducted into the California Community College Football Coaches Hall of Fame back in March.

18 Owls Dot All-Conference List

Glendora, CA -- A total of 18 athletes were listed on the Southern California Football Alliance National Division Central Conference All-Conference list. The Owls had three first team representatives, six second team representatives, and nine honorable mention honorees.

Owls Fall to Fullerton in Close Game

Fullerton, CA -- The Citrus College Football team closed out their 2012 season on Saturday evening in the Western State Bowl against host Fullerton College. The Owls and Hornets played a close contest throughout, but ultimately it was Fullerton who prevailed.

The Owls, ranked #7 in the final regular season Coaches Poll, will be taking on SoCal #8 Fullerton College at Fullerton Union High School on Saturday evening. Kick-off is set for 6:00 PM.

Football Back in Bowl Game

Glendora, CA -- After four years out of post-season competition, the Citrus College Football team was granted a bowl game this afternoon. It’s the first time the Owls have played in a bowl game since 2007, when Citrus took on Fullerton College in the Orange County Bowl. Citrus will take on Fullerton again in the Western State Bowl on Saturday in Fullerton.

Football Falls In Final Regular Season Game

Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Football team, ranked #5 in Southern California, suffered just their third loss of the year on Friday evening, when they hosted SoCal #8 LA Harbor College. The Owls came out sluggish and the Seahawks took advantage as they defeated Citrus 36-21.

Kepley Picks Up Third POW Honor

Glendora, CA -- Citrus College sophomore Isaiah Kepley was named the Central Conference Special Teams/All-Purpose Player of the Week this week for his play at Long Beach City College this past weekend. It’s the third time this year Kepley has earned the award.

Football Stays At Five For Third Straight Week

Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Football team stayed at #5 in the latest Southern California Football Association Coaches Poll for the third straight week. In addition the Owls moved up to #10 in the State Poll, and #27 in the JCGridiron.com Dirty 30 National Poll.

Opposites Attract a Win for Football

Long Beach, CA -- All season long, the Citrus College Football team’s strength on the offensive side of the ball had been its passing game. That wouldn’t be the case on Saturday afternoon at Long Beach City College as the opposite attracted a win for Citrus. The Owls gained more yards on the ground than they did through the air in a 43-24 win over the Vikings.

Porter Gets Player of the Week Nod

Glendora, CA -- Citrus College freshman quarterback Bernard Porter was named the Central Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his game at El Camino last Saturday. It’s the first Player of the Week nod for Porter, and the fourth straight week that a Citrus player has been granted the award.

Closing Time

Torrance, CA (Football) -- The Citrus College Football team took care of business when it mattered most on Saturday evening at El Camino College during closing time. The Owls scored 15 unanswered in the fourth quarter en route to a 32-18 win against the Warriors.
