Women’s Water Polo Has Eight Earn All-Conference Honors

Glendora, CA - Fresh off it’s most successful season in well over a decade, the Citrus College Women’s Water Polo team had eight players earn All-Western State Conference awards. Three players earned 1st team nods, while two were named to the 2nd team, and another three Honorable Mention honorees.

Owls Season Ends in 5 OTs

November 10, 2016

Huntington Beach, CA - It took almost two entire games for Citrus College opening round contest in the 2016 Southern California Regionals to be decided. The Owls and Mt. San Antonio College played to a 6-6 tie at the end of regulation and a 7-7 tie at the end of the first mandated two overtimes. It took two more plus a little extra before a winner could be declared as the Mounties scored in the golden goal in the fifth overtime to upend Citrus by a final of 8-7.

Spalding Leads Owls to First Post-Season Berth in 16 Years

Glendora, CA - For the first time in 16 years the Citrus College Women’s Water Polo Program is headed to the CCCAA Southern California Regionals. In her first season at the helm, Head Coach Jennifer Spalding has led the Owls to a program record and the SoCal Regionals where they earned the #8 seed.

Freshman Hunter Olivier scored 13 goals, had 9 assists, recorded 8 steals, and drew four exclusions over the course of three games at the 2016 WSC Championships.
Owls Finish 3rd at 2016 WSC Championships

San Luis Obispo, CA - The Citrus College Women's Water Polo team closed out their 2016 regular season over the weekend with a 3rd Place finish at the 2016 Western State Conference Water Polo Championships. The Owls opened up the weekend by avenging an earlier loss to Cuesta before falling in the semi-finals to #1 seed Santa Barbara City College. The Owls wrapped up the weekend by defeating Allan Hancock College in the third place game.

Double-Dip Double-Vic-tories

Santa Monica & Valley Glen, CA - The Citrus College Women’s Water Polo team covered a total of 93.9 miles on Wednesday afternoon as they closed out their regular season schedule with a 12:30 PM tilt at Santa Monica College and then a 3:30 PM showdown with Los Angeles Valley College. The double-dip ended with double victories for the Owls 18-2 and 15-14.

Statement Day

October 22, 2016

Cypress, CA - When the dust settled on the second day of the 2016 Battle at the Beach Tournament, the toughest CCCAA Women’s Water Polo Tournament in the State, the Citrus College Women’s Water Polo team had a statement day on their hands. The Owls opened up with a 6-4 slugfest of a victory over local rival Mt. San Antonio College before wrapping up the weekend with a revenge win over conference rival Ventura College 10-7 that helped the Owls to a 9th Place finish in the tournament, their best ever finish.

Owls Lose One and Win One in Battle of the Beach Opener

Cypress, CA - At arguably the toughest water polo tournament in Southern California, the Citrus College Women’s Water Polo team lost one and won one on the first day of competition. The Owls opened up with Long Beach City College, falling 13-9, before rallying with a 10-7 victory over conference foe Los Angeles Valley College in the final game of the day.

Owls Close Out Tournament With Two More Wins

Glendora, CA – The Citrus College Women’s Water Polo team closed out their 2016 home hosted tournament with two more wins on Saturday. The Owls opened up the day with a 4-3 defensive slugfest win against San Diego Mesa College, and wrapped the weekend up in the very last game of the day, defeating Pasadena City College 13-2.

Owls Roll on Day One of Home Tourney

Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Women’s Water Polo team opened up their annual home hosted tournament on Friday. The Owls rolled on the first day, outscoring their opponents 25-4 on the day.

Santa Maria, CA - After putting forth one of it’s worst offensive efforts of the year on Tuesday afternoon against Cuesta College, the Owls made their longest conference road trip of the season on Wednesday afternoon to take on Allan Hancock College. Freshman Lindsay Powell came up in a big way for the Owls, as she powered Citrus to a 16-8 win after scoring seven goals, handing out three assists, drawing three exclusions, and recording a steal.

Owls Offense Betrays Them in Loss to Cuesta

Glendora, CA - After averaging well over 10 goals a game throughout their previous 18 contests, the Citrus College Women’s Water Polo team had their offense betray them on Tuesday afternoon when they hosted Cuesta College in Western State Conference action. Citrus managed just three goals, was 3 of 29 on shot attempts, and was just 1 of 11 on 6-on-5 opportunities in a 5-3 loss.

The Bad and The Good

Ventura, CA - The Citrus College Women’s Water Polo team headed up the coast on Thursday afternoon for a pair of contests, the first in WSC play against Ventura College and the second a non-conference tilt with visiting American River College. It was a bad and good trip for the Owls, who lost by two in the opener with Ventura, but rallied with a win against American River.

Owls Come Up Short in Triangular

Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Women’s Water Polo team played host to two of the best program’s in the State on Thursday in the form of Riverside City College and San Joaquin Delta College. The Owls came up just short against the two schools falling to RCC in the opener 10-4 and SJ Delta 11-9 in the day’s concluding game.

Owls Win Big Over Pierce

Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Women’s Water Polo team played their first home WSC game on Wednesday afternoon and came away with a big win over LA Pierce. The Owls led 11-2 at the break and never really looked back in a 17-4 victory.

Owls Close Weekend With Two More Big Wins

Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Women’s Water Polo team closed out their first weekend at “home” on Saturday afternoon when they helped co-host the 20th Annual Mt. SAC Classic. The Owls finished with a 4-0 weekend after beating Palomar and El Camino Colleges in the final day.

Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Women’s Water Polo team made their home debut on Friday afternoon when they helped co-host the 20th Annual Mt. SAC Women’s Water Polo Classic. The Owls won big and small on the day, defeating Rio Hondo College 15-9 and Orange Coast College 10-9 on the day.
